I was diagnosed via a Dexascan by my GYN. She has since retired, and I would prefer someone who is trained in osteoporosis.

I have osteoporosis,and I am happy to say I have not had any broken bones! My bone density test show my 60 year old bones are like that of an 80+ year old women.However I am in pain every day, my knees,hips
,back and hands hurt the most. But my doctors say there is no pain with osteoporosis until you have a fracture or break. And X-rays have not shown much arthritis. How "much" do I need to have for them to explain the pain I have? Have any of you had pain without fracture or arthritis?

i'm not sure what type of osteoporisis I have. Type 1 or Type 2? I was diagnosed with osteoporsis when i was about 54 years old post menopausal.

I have been diagnosed for a little over 6 months. The pain is getting worse. I really do not want to take the meds the Dr. has prescribed. The side effects seem horrible. I have just been prescribed Actonel and after reading about the side affects I am afraid to take it causes esophageal cancer. eventually causes fractures life expectancy after commencing taking is 15 years all seems rather drastic to me
