I was diagnosed today. I haven’t stopped crying. I have been a very healthy person. I’m scared after reading about the side effects of all those medications. I wonder if there are people who have decided not to take any medication and treat it just with a good diet and exercise. Is that a good idea?
Thanks,

Thanks London for your information I am still looking into everything as I have not long been in out of hospital again x
I have been diagnosed for a little over 6 months. The pain is getting worse. I really do not want to take the meds the Dr. has prescribed. The side effects seem horrible. (The one the doctor recommended "Calcintonin" can cause cancer. it is a nasal spray. I'm looking for a more holistic approach. I came across an herbal supplement called AlgaeCal. I'm wondering if anyone has heard of/or tried this supplement. It is rather expensive but the testimonials are very positive. I'm wondering if it is… read more

My mother took Fosamax for over 8 years and still broke her hip. I have friends who have tried the shots and still broken bones. What have you found the most effective treatment for osteoporosis? I am also trying the exercise program by Margaret Martin. I already exercise daily and this helps me focus on a program particular to osteoporosis; including tips on what not to do. I have also heard that your diet is also a factor? Has anyone found this to be true? Thanks so much.
My T scores are Left Femur -1.7 Ap spine - 2.9. I have no idea how to work out how bad this is. I don't think my doctor did either as I got no answer.
Could anyone help me decipher please.

I have and am now on Prednisone for Crohn's disease. This is usually a short term solution, but I heard that Prednisone can affect bone health.
This is what I found when I Googled the question
Long-term use of prednisone can lead to osteoporosis and an increased risk of bone fracture, though this risk is reversible once medications are… read more
Dr. asked if I wanted to go on Prolia. I was not sure. He said it does not make bones stronger. It just pauses the loss of bone while on Prolia. When you come off, your bones are the same as when you went on Prolia. Anyone have any ideas on what to go on??
Keren - I also have started Collagen Peptides. I hear good things about it, so fingers crossed they help both of us. I also cannot take a lot of medicines like you. Thank you for getting back to… read more
