Does anyone know anything about teeth or gums problems from Fosamax? Dentist says there is a correlation!
I take bone supplements right now going to see if they help with my bone scan!
JDhook76, so if you are not taking Fosamax what do you take?
Pamhundley, I guess it is no more hard stuff to bite into for me! Good to know. I didn't know teeth-bone problems were so pervasive. Yuck!!
Yes my dentist told me that Fosamax can affect the bones in the jaw. He had a lady that her tooth broke off at the jaw bone. Very scary.
I actually take care of a dog for a very well regarded local dentist. He said that he and other dentists generally find that Fosomax is not usually an issue. Some of the others have been more problematic.
My pharmacist said the same thing. I have been on the drug a little over a year with no side effects. My mother had osteoporosis and she refused treatment...she insisted the medication bothered her and she would just take vitamins. As she got older and it got worse; she crumpled up like a tissue. In the end, she was in horrible pain and could barely walk. I tell everyone: do not refuse treatment and keep exercising. I saw first hand what happens if you do not.
google: "fosamax teeth problems" and you will get a whole bunch of good info
