Can I Stop Bending More And More Forward?
A MyOsteoTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have just been diagnosed with severe osteopenial osteoporotic vertebral fracture and multilevel acute osteoporotic fractures in the lower thoratic and lumbar spine. I had a fall several months ago and was not aware of the fractures, just the pain .Now my body seems to want to bend more and more forwards, giving me a distended belly. Is there any way that I can stop this?

No no back brace have tried to stretch and do have to sit with pillows behind my back to keep straight in chairs. I just got my latest bloodwork though, changing the subject, and it looks like calcium and iron are down. Because of the cancer I have tests and blood drawn every 3 months so this happened after the recast. Can anyone give suggestions on iron that won’t kill your gut. My wellness dr gave me medical calcium to start so I hope I’m good there. What about vitamin c?

Do you use a back brace? Recommended to my mom from her doctors. She had a spinal fracture in early 2020.

Hi I am 64 years old. My osteoporosis was found after scans that were needed for my breast cancer recovery. I had had a double mastectomy and already was having issues with leaning forward due to muscle loss and revisions. The doctors started me with PT and exercises for upper back. Worked with yoga poses for osteoporosis and luckily have a son that is a trainer. He has now started me on lightweights. What I found is that you have to keep moving. Sitting not moving made mine worse. I have been working on this now for 6 months and find that I can stand straighter and am reminded to keep my head up so I don't lean forward. Utube has been friend. I have also worn light leg weights during cleaning for my hips Of course you always have to work with your doctor on each phase. But mine have been very supportive of exercise, yoga and weights. Its a new day. I just keep moving when I can. You take care.
