The Mayo Clinic defines Secondary Osteoporosis as being caused by adverse effects of drug therapy, endocrine disorders, eating disorders, immobilization, bone marrow disorders, disorders of the gastrointestinal or biliary tract, kidney disease, and cancer. Hope that helps, just means not just getting older and losing bone density, but added disease problems contribute to the chance to fracture. check out the websites on ,The National Osteoporosis Foundation, lots of facts. 😊

So does that mean my osteoporosis is secondary, as i also have/had long term anorexia. I thought it came from years of working/riding big powerful horses, (im pretty small) which had 'worn out' my hips in particular... Maybe I should of asked more questions while being seen at the hospital..I kinda thought all would be revealed in time & obviously hadn't banked on everything just coming to a standstill..
When I came on here, I didnt realise there were osteoporosis types (1 & 2??)
Does secondary mean I'm probably type two?? And what does type two mean anyway, is it less than type one?? Is it treated the same??
Sorry im not tec savy.. 🌹
