I have osteoporosis and fractured 6 vertebrae in December last year. I also had a liver transplant in September last year, and a heart attack in March of this year.I am about 75%healed, but still have pain in my back when I walk. I have lost some balance also. I need to get some balance and strength back. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
In your kitchen hold onto counter and stand on one leg, then stand on second leg After a while let go of counter and again take turns standing on one leg This WILL help your balance. All the time make sure you can catch hold of the counter so you dont topple over. Good luck.
Hi CyndyV! If you google, or however your search the internet, GrowYoungFitness, (not sure that I can just give you the website), there is a series of DVDs that Deron Buboltz, has created especially for seniors. Many of his exercizes are done while sitting, some are standing. He has a dvd that he calls the Starter Pack that gives you a taste of variety of work outs, which include foundation, cardio, core, balance and yoga. He has dvds for each indiviual workout also. I believe he does have a stretching dvd now also.
I've found a Dr Andrea furlan on YouTube she does exercises for osteoarthritis and osteoporosis , she does exercises in a chair, on the bed or standing up for all levels. She is from Canada x
Tai chi dvd is good for balance. God bless.
Great idea Mhfri; you could also try YouTube videos with easy chair yoga poses.
