I just had an epidural 3 days ago and my doctor doesn't want to do them anymore. I have seen many failed surgeries with patients worse than before and don't want this. I worry that the osteoporosis does not make me a good candidate for this surgery and as a nurse, I know how overconfident doctors can be! Of course, I will get a second opinion. Also, I am moving this weekend to take a job on the beautiful Calif coast that includes room and board!
Thanks for sharing your story. This is exactly one of my concerns. I already have moderate cervical and some thoracic stenosis and was concerned that they'd become worse. I am sorry to hear about your results and wish they could do something better for you.
Kudos on getting a second opinion and the new job. I hope the change will do you a lot of good! I don't have any clue on your spinal fusion question, I hope someone can help you with that one.
For me it helped me that I had pressure on my spinal cord but other than taking away all the pain, no it did not. I’ve had to have epidurals ever cents and with the osteoporosis that was evident even when the surgery was done but I was told they just gave me this machine to build up my bones and never told me why I should have known though. But I waited until there was no other option and I needed to be out of some pain so I went ahead and did it. No regrets but I wish it would’ve taken away everything but that’s only an illusion. Glad you are getting a second opinion.I did so also. Best wishes to you. Maybe you’re moving will help! Bless you!🙂
Well ... I can tell you from my experience that do every thing possible before you do the fusion. Did mine in Jan 2018 and let me tell you it was pure hell. It’s been over a year and I personally would not advise unless you can’t pick up a coffee cup as that is what happened to me. I’m only 49 and I do wish that I would have known more about osteoporosis . Please take care . Try physical therapy , massage. Sharie
Smart move to get a second opinion.
