Specialist Or Primary Care Doctor?
A MyOsteoTeam Member asked a question 💭

Do you all see a General Practitioner for treatment? I am unhappy with the GP I am currently with and was thinking it may be better to see a specialist anyway - but I'm not sure which kind to see
I am in my early 50's but been diagnosed since late 40's. No real symptoms (other than the low bone density test) until recently when I have had two separate rib fractures (one from riding a roller coaster! dang it!). Doctor is willing to try Prolia but office has dragged their feet getting preauths… read more

I am actually seeing a Physician assistant now at the bone clinic at Kaiser here in California Riverside County
she works with the best Ortho doctors and Oncologist if needed she has sent me to the lab now and is watching my blood work every 2-3- weeks to make sure they are good enough to stay on Prolia if I want to
When I first started with her I asked what she would do n my cast IE: which would she choose she did choose both Prolia and (IV treatment reclast (not sure of spelling neither is spell check lol)
so I decided on Prolia so far I haven't had any problem good news is I take no pain RX like before this , my sisters been on it and doing better : One never really knows ,the way I look at this we got it ,we need to feel better, I'm 82 in Oct I want my life to feel good it will never be like it was why should it bones do not last forever : Good luck to everyone find a good DR we need that always: I promise to all of you if I start having BAD side effects I will warn you deal?
Dear God let me live to enjoy these babies (below)as long as possible "

I would try and find an osteoporis specialist. I am on prolia injections 2 so far . i will be having a followup bone density in a year to see if the Prolia is helping. I seem to have less achiness and no back pain since I started the injections. You need a specialist to monitor your vitamin D levels and calcium before you start Prolia. Good luck.
